SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
This summer Warriors for Christ would like to invite college students to work with us.
Warriors for Christ is a Native American Discipleship ministry located in Port Townsend, WA. The vision of Warriors for Christ is to provide culturally sensitive, effective discipleship materials, and training for Native Americans.
It would be helpful if the student is able to work with computers, Facebook, WFC Website, and with construction projects. We will in turn offer  Discipleship through Warriors for Christ's Walking the New Path.  It will be a time to focus on the Lord and His Word. Through this experience they will be equipped and encouraged to accept the Lord's calling on their life.
We are located on Puget Sound, just outside the historic seaport of Port Townsend. There will be plenty of time for recreation too which could include: camping, sightseeing, sailing, hiking. See the following link for more information. http://www.ptguide.com/

Warriors for Christ can provide food and lodging; stay with us for a week to a month this summer.

There are a number of ways you can partner with Warriors for Christ.  We would first ask you to take a look at the vision and mission statements listed below and ask the Lord how He wants you to be involved.

VISION

Warriors for Christ's vision is to assist the local Native Church, both on reservations and in urban areas, discipling Native Christians who then can effectively train others in God's Word.

MISSION STATEMENT

To encourage and strengthen spiritual growth of Native Americans through evangelism and discipleship training.  To strengthen and plant Native churches on Indian reservations and in urban areas throughout North America.

WAYS TO PARTNERSHIP WITH

WARRIORS FOR CHRIST

From you home:

The Prayer Circle:  Pray for prayer requests.  We will send you prayer requests as we receive them from the website.  We will ask you to join WFC's staff to pray for these needs.  To join the Prayer Circle send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Warrior Council:  Those that have made a monthly pledge of financial support to Warriors for Christ.  We really need your partnership with Warriors for Christ.  Just go to http//www.wfconline.org/donations.htm to reach our "help page" on the website.  Let us know that you want to join with us to help reach our Host people with Christ's love and provide discipleship training.

Short Term :

Construction

We need help turning a pole barn into our office/discipleship training center.

Need to finish our prayer/study building.

Regional Directors:

"Regional Directors" will be trained on how to use the WFC's Discipleship Course -"Walking His Path".   They then will in turn be able to train Native Pastors and leadership in local churches and home groups using  the course; this is based on the "multiplication" method- Christ's way.

Directors will also organize and lead  "Soaring Eagle Conferences".    Conferences will be held in different places in North America using local and national Native Christian leadership.

Housing:

Provide housing for Pastors and leaders during training

your personal invitation to join the Warrior Council PDF Print E-mail

Sunday, 07 June 2009

Because of the urgency of this letter, we are Posting it here.

If you are already a member of the Warrior Council, we again thank you for your support of Warriors for Christ.

If you are not a member of the Warrior Council, this is your personal invitation to join.  We really need your support to fulfill the vision of Native discipleship.

Gordon Shadburne

May , 2009

" It is good to see an out reach for Native Americans that centers on Christ.  With all the problems that are common to Native Americans, our greatest need is to discover the truth the hope and fulfillment, that can only be found through Gods word and Jesus Christ.  May God bless Warriors for Christ".

We have been very busy at Warriors for Christ.  We just recently have added 2 new people to our website staff – Gray Woolf and Harry Harth.  They are helping us answer emails from First Nations people in North America and many others from around the world.  Through our Warriors for Christ online ministry, we provide 24/7 support, encouragement, and counseling.  Thanks to today’s technology, we are able to minister to people that we would not have been able to reach, just a few years ago.  We are really thankful for the Prayer Circle (now over 75 prayer warriors) and the 6 website staff members that help respond to all the emails we receive through the WFC website.

As Warriors for Christ grows and with the changes in the economy, we find that our financial needs are growing.  These needs are an opportunity for you to be involved in the discipleship of Native Americans – we need your help to meet these needs:

v  Website  Computer – need to replace our desktop computer used specifically for the website ministry.                                               $650.

v  Laptop Computer – The Warriors for Christ Board of Directors have requested that we purchase a new laptop, to help us answer emails, even when away from the office.                          $900.

v  Printer – The costs of publishing is great (unless we receive a grant that covers these costs) and we need copies of our discipleship course, tracks and other materials, so we have decided to do in-house, “desktop publishing” ourselves.     $400.

v  Building materials for Discipleship Center – Many of you have generously given funds to help with the construction of the discipleship center.  We are almost there!  We are asking teams to come in this summer to help complete the center, but need to provide the materials – sheetrock, insulation, and instillation of woodstove.                 $1,200.

v  Car repairs – tires, water pump, and steering mechanism for our ministry  vehicle.                                                 $1,000.

v  Second vehicle – our primary vehicle is a SUV, which is great for the reservations.   But we really could use a second vehicle and one that is more economical and dependable vehicle.                                                $4,000.

v  General Expenses – As we reach out more through our discipleship course, “Walking the New Path” and general cost go up we need to increase our monthly income.  $400. per mo

Can you make a commitment to Warriors for Christ and Native American discipleship training for at least 1 year to help in one of the above urgent needs?  Whether it is a gift of $10., $25., $50., $100. per month or more, we need to count on you to help us move forward.

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20,21

In His Service,

Gordon E. Shadburne

Executive Director

P.S.  After reviewing the above list of needs; computer printer, repairs, discipleship center, please return this email, with your commitment, so that we know we can count on your support.

If at this time you can’t make a commitment monthly, we would appreciate a one-time gift.   You can go to our website www.wfconline.org and click on the donate now button.  This will link you to Paypal, so you can give, knowing your information is safe.

Peace:

"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

"Peace-Peace- Peace"

"At this time of year"  the world talks of "Peace"  yet on all fronts there is no peace; all we have to look at is a world in economic crisis, a world at war- in so many places. Can there be any peace this Christmas??

Yes!  We as Christians do have the Peace of God- that inner peace the world longs for.

Maybe this Christmas season we need to share our Christ given gift of Peace from our Father Creator- with others?  The Greatest Gift a person could get this Christmas is finding Christ- the maker of real Peace.

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."
John 14:27

This Christmas claim this promise of peace given to you-

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7, 9

Let His Peace guard your heart and mind this Christmas Season -and share your gift of Peace with family, neighbors and your community.

How to find God's Peace this Christmas:

Walking a New Path

"The 4 Seasons"

WINTER

Bitter winds of winter blow across the land. there is a feeling of helplessness. Loneliness sets in. Gray clouds hang low. Trees are broken with heavy snows. So it is with our lives, with the anger, disappointments and bitterness of our past and the present filled with broken families, alcoholism, drug abuse, hopelessness, and even suicide.

SPRING

After the harshness and hopelessness of winter, spring offers a renewing of life. As spring approaches, the store lodges have grown empty. So too, our lives feel empty, unable to deal with the cares and hurts we have. Yet with spring, also comes new life and new hope, like the mountain flowers pushing up through the snow.

You are not alone. The Father-Creator offers us love an hope. When we feel helpless and want to give up, we are more willing to accept a loving hand. The Creator wants to show you His love now! Like a seed planted in Spring, the Father-Creator offers us a new beginning, a new life.

The Son of the Creator, Jesus Christ said "I came that they might have life and might have it abundantly." (John 10:10)

Springtime offers choice. We watch the weeds and thorns grow like the hurts that our people experience. But, we can plant new seed with the hope of a full harvest. Jesus Christ offers a new hope for our lives. He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father [Creator] but through me." (John 14:6)

Even though we have broken our Creator's law and committed many wrongs, our Father-Creator offers us forgiveness and eternal life with Him. Trying to be good and trying to purify ourselves will not do it. We only need to ask for His forgiveness, accept it, and believe what the Creator's son, Jesus Christ, has done for us. "But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8). He sacrificed His life so that we could have fellowship with our Creator

The choice is yours...will you accept the Father-Creator's love?

"That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:9,13)

SUMMER

The sun is shining and we see growth all around us. It is easy to relax and just have fun. But, if we have not planted good seed and have not plowed and watered the fields, the summer heat brings destruction. When everything appears to be going well, the bad seeds of bitterness, hat and hurt can destroy our lives.

FALL

Fall arrives, the summer sun fades and the harsh winter winds are heard in the mountain tops. We either fear the future or celebrate the full harvest. Fall brings fear when we realize that we are not prepared to face the bitter cold and Hunger of winter. We can be prepared and fulfilled by praying the following prayer.

"Lord Jesus, I need you. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my wrong doings and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen."

Now, we have planted the good seed and accepted Jesus Christ into our lives. Our store lodges are full and prepared for the long winter. We can celebrate!!

Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ.

1.Study His Word (the Bible). Begin in the Book of Luke - Warriors for Christ has a special study to help you.

2.Talk to your Creator in prayer.

3.Find a Christian fellowship or church where you can learn about Father- Creator and His Son, Jesus and meet other Christians.

If you have just prayed this prayer to accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord, please contact us so that we can pray for you and send you materials that will help you with your new life.
