Father-Creator's Word

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Psalm 5:11,12 (NIV)

Traditions: Self Control - A Tradition Lost

In days past it was a high virtue for a Warrior to possess self-control. This was expected in many areas of his life. During a hunt it was required to be still and quiet. At times it might be necessary to "keep going on" despite little food or water, to suffer winter cold or summer heat.

Around the fire, children would be taught not to speak before the elders. They would learn to keep quiet while adults spoke. Even in sexual relations, self-control was expected from a Warrior.

Is not "self-control" a good tradition to reclaim? Now you are a Warrior in Christ. He is there to help you, to give you the gift of "self-control."

Titus 2:11-12 - "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age."

Native News

  • Indigenous Peoples Day proclaimed: PHOENIX - United Nations Rapporteur J. Wilton Littlechild, Cree Nation of Canada, received a proclamation of Indigenous Peoples Day from Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, a premiere move for worldwide recognition of the term representing global indigenous self-sufficiency. Littlechild is part of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, an advisory body to the U.N.'s Economic and Social Council. Recognition of the term ''indigenous peoples'' and what it represents sends a signal to the governments of the world.
  • Drought in the Klamath Basin: SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Continuing dry conditions over the Pacific Northwest have led to warnings from an inter-tribal group that could spell disaster for the Klamath basin in the coming months. Sources at the Klamath River Inter-Tribal Fish and Water Commission warn that persistent drought conditions, coupled with poor federal management policies, could endanger a range of fish species. The commission is a coalition of four northern California, Oregon Klamath, and southern Oregon tribes including the Hoopa, Yurok and Karuk.
  • Tribe capitalizes on the environment that sustain it: LA PUSH- The Quileute Tribe is turning to eco-tourism to boost its economy and create jobs for its people. Like other Northwest Indian nations, Quileute's economy plummeted during the decline in fishing and logging, and tribal unemployment today is 70 percent, according to Quileute General Manager Wally Jackson. On a reservation comprising one square mile - its historic area was more than 800 square miles - Quileute's economic development opportunities would seem limited. Still, Quileute tribal members voted down a proposal to build a casino. The tribe instead decided to capitalize on what it already has: the environment that sustains it.
  • Quileute is expanding its Quileute Oceanside Resort, improving its marina, redeveloping its oceanfront Quileute RV Park, promoting its close proximity to Olympic National Park and working with local chambers of commerce and the Audubon Society to spread the word about what Quileute has to offer.
  • San Manuel Band buys land for Piestewa home: The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians from California bought the land for the new home for the family of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi woman killed in action in Iraq. The tribe was approached by the National Congress of American Indians for financial help with the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project announced earlier this week. So the tribe paid $180,000 for 6 acres in Flagstaff, The Arizona Republic reported.

Walking the New Path
(Part 1 from Lesson 3: Jesus Christ - Son of Father Creator)

  1. WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?

    a. PROPHECY HAS TOLD OF HIS COMING - Jesus’ birth including the town he was born in, his life and his death were prophesied. Seven hundred years before Jesus Christ was born physically, the prophet Isaiah told of Christ’s human birth. This prophecy and others in the Bible help us to believe in Jesus and to know that He is our Savior and Lord. All the prophecies from the Old Testament had to be fulfilled for Jesus to be recognized as God’s Son.

    Isaiah 9:6
    - "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

    Jeremiah 23:5
    - "Behold, {the} days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land".

    Zechariah 9:9
    - "Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey".

  2. JESUS CHRIST – FULLY MAN AND FULLY GOD

    a. He has all wisdom and knowledge - Jesus has all the wisdom and knowledge of Father-Creator. Because of this we know if Jesus tells us something in the Bible, it is true and we should follow it.

    Romans 11:33
    - "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments..."

    Matthew 13:54
    - "And coming to His home town He began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they became astonished, and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom, and these miraculous powers?

    Luke 5:22
    - "Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, "Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?"

    b. He has always existed – been - Jesus was not created, but created all things with Father-Creator

    John 1:1-2
    - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."

    Colossians 1:16-17
    - "For by Him all things were created, {both} in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together".

    c. He has all the qualities of the Father-Creator – Jesus has all power and holiness of Father-Creator, but was sent to earth to come as a man so he can be our savior.

    John 10:30
    - "I and the Father are one."

    Matthew 11:27
    - "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him".

    d. He walked in the garden with Adam and Eve – Jesus walked and appeared on earth before he was physically born. Examples of this are when he appeared to Adam and Eve, Abraham, etc.

    Genesis 3:8
    - "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden."

    Genesis 18:13-14
    - "Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?' Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."

    e. He has the power to perform miracles and heal us – Jesus Christ has the power to heal us spiritually, physically and emotionally. With Jesus there is no problem – from alcohol, drugs and even suicide that cannot be stopped through Christ’s power.

    Mark 9:25-27
    - "When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again."

The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead". But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

    Matthew 8:2-3
    - "A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy."

    John 5:25-26
    - "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear shall live. For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself."
