Father-Creator's Word

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7

Traditions: In the Tradition of the Grass Dancer

The Grass Dancers of the Omaha Nation would go forth to prepare the land for the meeting of the clans – today’s Pow Wows. The grass dancer would stomp the grass down and thus today you see their distinctive stomp-step dance.

We recently attended a Native Christian Conference in Federal Way, WA. It was held at a church where I had been Church Administrator. Before we left that position to start in Native ministry we asked our church prayer group to pray for us. One of the promises that was given to us by the Lord that night:

Joshua 1:3
“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses”.

The church has expanded from 1,000 to now over 4,000. The acre of grass in the back is now a parking lot. Jan felt the Lord was saying that as the grass seed was being sowed so too would Warriors for Christ reach as many Native Americans.

As we walked in we met a pastor that had started a home church on the reservation in California where we lived for many years. He is continuing to reach out along side those we had worked with in the area. Then at lunch we net a Native pastor who reminded me when met at a Pow Wow. We had brought our tipi and set up a table with our tract “4 seasons”. He thanked us for the encouraging him in Native ministry.

Then we met a Native pastor of a church on an Oregon Coast reservation, where we often ministered with a local Chief Sunday morning before the Pow Wow started. The pastor thanked WFC for “preparing the ground” for his ministry. And so it continued throughout the weekend! The Lord was showing us that He was faithful in keeping His promises. He had asked us as we went to reservations and Pow Wows to put our foot down and claim the land to prepare the path of His way.

As you go, you too can put your foot down and claim the land for the Lord. At first you may not see the fruit of the seeds you sow, yet He is the Lord of the Harvest. He will bring growth if we are faithful warriors.

Native News

  • Project preserves histories of Oneida Nation elders: A member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin and two video producers have started a project to record the histories of tribal elders. L. Gordon McLester and the producers have interviewed 375 elders so far and they plan to interview 140 more in the next two years. They are creating DVDs of the interviews to share with schools, libraries, families and the community.
  • Put FEMA’s unused mobile homes to good use: South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson has an idea for putting the unused mobile homes to good use: Move them to American Indian reservations where 90,000 Indian families are homeless or have inadequate housing. "Rather than allow these homes to go to waste, they can be used immediately in Native communities, not only for housing, but also as additional classrooms for reservation schools, whose facilities are in desperate need of repair," Johnson wrote to the federal agency. Why let the trailers sit, unused, in an empty lot in Arkansas when there is a housing crisis on America's Indian reservations? Some emergencies are not unexpected but are years in the making. Easing housing and school construction needs in Indian Country is an area where FEMA's trailers can be put to good use."
  • Golf courses a booming industry in Indian Country: Golf has become a big business in Indian Country, with 50 tribal-owned courses in 16 states and 20 more on the way. Many of the facilities were built in the last six years, according to the Associated Press. The boom is associated with the expansion of the Indian gaming industry. Many tribes offer golf and gaming packages to lure players to their award-winning, large courses.
  • Recognition for tribe a priority: The special assistant to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole told the Lumbee Tribal Council on Thursday that federal recognition remains a priority. Robbie Boone met with tribal officials to update them on the status of a bill that would bring millions of dollars to the tribe for education, health, housing and economic development.

Walking the New Path
(Lesson 3, Part 5)

4. Christ is our Deliverer - Our power over Satan, his demons, and spells

Through Christ no curse or spell or power of Satan through a shaman has power over you. Jesus Christ destroyed the power of Satan and death for those who accept Him as their Savior.

John 8:36
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Romans 8:38 39
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us

I John 4:4
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

James 4:7
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.

5. Christ is our Healer

Christ has the power over sickness and disease. If someone if healed through Satan’s supernatural power, there is a price to pay – farther separation from Father-Creator. When you are healed through Christ’s power, peace comes to your life; you are close to Father-Creator through the power and love of his son, Jesus.
Christ has the power to heal, but it may be the Lord’s perfect will for us to have a trial physically so that we can be healed emotionally, spiritually, and/or other reasons, but Christ knows best for each of us. We don’t always understand His will, but we can trust Him- because of His love for us.

Matthew 9:35
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness”.

Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.

Native Prayer Requests

  • "Pray for the new ministry www.rootsandwingsministries.org - it's a Christian site for everyone to join. I was recently appointed Sr. Elder for Alaska and Canada." – Rev. Joe, Nez Pierce
  • "I need prayer for my son Jonathon, who is 16. He is involved with the wrong crowd, and involved with a girl named Nicole (18) who is deep into the vampire cult. Since Jonathon has met this girl his whole life has changed into this vampire stuff, and he has turned his back on God and she has him believing that darkness is the way.. He has also started cutting himself, and grades have dropped. Please pray that the Lord will turn him from Nicole, this vampire way of life, and this group of wrong companions. Please pray that God will saturate Jonathon's life with Christian peers, remove Nicole from Jonathon's life, but most important Jonathon will turn back to the Lord. I can not lose my son anymore; please He needs your prayers." – Daniel, Lakota
  • "We have found our path on this red road up here in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. We have to move down state, my prayer is that the Creator will guide us and protect us on our way." – Jim
