A New Year’s resolution – Light for the Path

“A New Year’s resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere … in which a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement… beginning from New Year’s Day…
The most common reason for participants

New Year’s resolution

their New Years’ Resolutions was setting themselves unrealistic goals (35%), while 33% didn’t keep track of their progress and a further 23% forgot about it. – “.wikipedia.

“The New Year is a time when many people pause to take stock of how they live their lives and set goals for how to do better. Yet more often than not, New Year’s resolutions fall to the wayside as the holidays fade and the hustle and bustle of everyday life descend upon us once more. “(cnn)

Common New Year’s resolutions are commitments to quit smoking, to stop drinking, to manage money more wisely, and to spend more time with family. By far, the most common New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, in conjunction with exercising more and eating more healthily.
They fail because there is no power in a New Year’s resolution.

Know what has Christ already done for you:
Quotes from/-Lesson 5: “Keeping on His Path”, from Walking the New Path- by Warriors for Christ)

When you became a commitments all your sins were “crucified on the cross.” You no longer have to continue in the old sinful habits of the past. You are free from those things that in the past hurt you, because you are a new person.
Philippians 3:13-14
“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

It is through Jesus Christ’s resurrection that you are “born again.” When Jesus Christ was resurrected by Father Creator, you were there in Christ and when He arose in a glorified body, you were given a new nature, an inheritance of righteousness. Know, accept, and claim His resurrection power; His life.
When you become a Christian– by faith, you put yourself on the cross with Jesus Christ. You were crucified with Him and you died with Him. Now you live in your new nature – your new righteousness, victorious life in Christ Jesus.

Accepting His truth —
It is important to know and remember that you have victory through Christ over sin

• Your sinful nature died with Christ, you were buried with Christ.
Romans 6:11
“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

• You rose as a new person with Christ in His resurrection.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

• God has already done His work for you through the cross.
Psalm 37:5-6 says, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn

• Choose to live in God’s truth and accept His grace for your life.
Philippians 3:13-14
“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ J

• Your job – accept His finished work on the cross and thank Him.
Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”
Your role is to accept His “finished work,” the new life He gave you and then thank Him for His love and sacrifice. By thanking Him, you are accepting the new life He has given you.
Romans 6:6-8
“ For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin — because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.”

Then what sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make?
(1) Ask the Lord for wisdom as to how to fulfill the calling the He gave you.

(2) Rely on God’s strength to help you in your New Life in Christ. Claim His many promises for your life
(3) Get a Discipler who will help you and encourage you in His Word.
(4) Don’t become discouraged with occasional failures.
(5) Give God the glory

John 15:5 declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Let me end with two thoughts–
“Stop tempting to make self-improvement our new year’s resolution but what we need is SELF-SACRIFICE. Don’t give up a habit- give up your heart.”
Quote from Rend Collective – December 26/ Facebook

“This year has been the best year of my life so far, I’ve done so many things I never thought I would have. I’ve met a bunch of you guys that I’m now proud to call friends. But next year will be even better! Last night in church I felt like I was led to speak to some of you, but for all of you, I have this. God has a plan for you no matter who you are, and if you choose to take it, you’re bound for greatness, so do so without fear!!! I hope to grow closer to some of you next year. And others I just want to support, and spend more time with. Thank you guys, for being awesome! You changed my life!” Trent Shadburne -Facebook

PEACE-IN OUR TIME ??- Light for the Path

(click on link above for our Special Christmas Video for YOU)

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” Luke 2:14 ESV

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6- ESV

In a World with terrorism in the Middle East, ISIS attacks in Paris , cyber warfare from China, epidemic diseases in Africa, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, how can we have Peace?

“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:6-7 ESV

In a Nation with home terrorist attacks like the San Bernardino shootings and Boston, violence in cities, organized crime, economic pressures, and dysfunctional families, how can we have Peace?

In a Tribe with alcohol abuse, drug abuse, domestic violence, cousins killing cousins , and youth suicides–four in just two weeks in Alaska, how can we have Peace?

In our personal lives filled with addictions, disappoints, health issues, fears, and financial problems, how can we have Peace? How can we ever hope to have PEACE???

In the World — maybe we should stop trying to be the policeman of the world, but by example be a “light on a hill,” a sanctuary of Peace and liberty.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV

In a Nation— fight violence by helping the “Family” have family values. Teaching our kids to respect parents, grandparents, and right to their own property, and privacy.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph. 6:12

In a Tribe--to respect the elders, and traditional values of speaking truthfully, not stealing, taking responsibility, and encouraging the youth to be all they can.

Peace with God:

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 ESV

Yes! It would be hard to have World Peace, National Peace, and Tribal peace.

Yet – despite all the problems we face, we CAN have Inner Peace– through the love and grace of our Father Creator.

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17 ESV

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Ephesians 6:12 ESV

First, we need to make peace with God.

Why you ask? Because we have broken the relationship with Him, we wanted to go our own way.

We are all sinners and that broke the relationship that our Creator wanted with us. Because He loves us so much He took care of our sinful nature by sending His only son– Jesus Christ as our perfect “Peace Offering”. Christ became the best Gift that anyone could ever receive. We now we have a choice to accept His Free Gift of a New Life, and restore the relationship with our loving Father Creator.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17 ESV

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 6:23 ESV

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 3:23 ESV

Take Action now.

“… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

INNER PEACE –Through your New Life in Jesus Christ

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2 ESV

This Christmas, YOU can have this Inner Peace despite the World, Nation, or Tribe we live in.

You have a choice. Ask the Lord into your life, and let him bring this Real Peace into your life. If you do this you can affect your family, clan, tribe, nation, and even the world.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27 ESV

“For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 ESV

As a Christian — you can claim the promises of peace that are given to you in His Word.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” Romans 16:20 ESV

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 ESV

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10 ESV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

Christmas is a time we give special gifts to people we love. We do this remembering the greatest gift to mankind, the gift from our loving Father, His own Son– Jesus Christ.
As 2015 comes to the end, Warriors for Christ asks you to remember us too in your gift giving.

As native leadership come for Discipleship training in 2016, there is now ONLY one building we need to complete. Please help us finish up this building through an end of the year, tax deductible gift. Maybe you can fund the whole project or a portion. PAST BLESSING AND FUTURE PLANS 2015/2016-Warriors for Christ

“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. “ Matthew 2:11
Christians are Christ’s gift to the Creator. As we follow His path, He is in the process of making us good gifts.

We hope you had a great family time this past Thanksgiving, thanking our Father Creator for His many blessings. As we look toward Christmas and the end of the year, Warriors for Christ wants to thank you for your prayers and financial support in 2015. It has been a year of great blessing, and we look forward to 2016.

Brown’s Story:

The enthusiasm and dedication of our discipleship class has been amazing. Let us tell you about Brown Fulton as an example. Brown has been attending discipleship class faithfully for the last two years. Not only is he committed to coming, he encourages others to come and learn about who they are in Christ and the path God has for them. He agreed to put his testimony on YouTube. He said that if one person is drawn closer to the Lord, it would be worth it.

Like Peter, Brown is a fisherman. He is often on Puget Sound, crabbing, shrimping, and fishing for salmon or halibut, sometimes right up to discipleship class time. Recently, he had a one hour boat ride to get to the bay that was open for fishing. He sat out all day in a very rocky boat because the wind was up, and one hour boat ride back. But even after his long day, guess where was he at 7 pm that evening?– at discipleship class.
